Ablekuma North Election Results Collation Halted Due to Fresh Dispute

The Electoral Commission (EC) has put an indefinite hold on counting results for the Ablekuma North constituency in the Greater Accra Region after the December 7, 2024 elections.

The High Street Business has learned that the suspension was due to discrepancies in the results from 20 polling stations.

The constituency has 62 outstanding polling stations, 42 of which have been cleared.

According to the returning officer, he requires 24 hours to validate the figures from the 20 polling stations before declaring the rightful winner of the seat.

Meanwhile, collation was successfully completed for the Tema Central, Okaikwei Central, and Techiman South constituencies, with all three seats being won by NPP candidates.

The re-collation of results from the constituency followed a dispute between the two main parties, the NDC and NPP, over who had won the seat.

The NPP later took the case to court, seeking completion of the collation processes, which took place earlier today, Sunday, January 5.
