The newly elected Board of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) led by President Richard Akpokavie on Friday paid a special courtesy call on the Chief Imam of Ghana Sheikh Dr. Nuhu Sharabutu at his residence at Fadama in Accra.
Richard Akpokavie said the essence of the visit was to seek his prayers for protection and and wisdom as new leaders take up the mantle to steer affairs at the GOC for the next four years.
The Chief Imam welcomed the new President and his Board warmly and prayed for each of them.

Among the board members present were 1st Vice President Mawuko Afadzinu, Secretary General, Mohammed Kassim Muniru, Treasurer Evans Yeboah and Board Members George Owusu Ansah, George Lamptey, George Tettey, Nathaniel Johnson and Kamal Sulley.
They were joined by Charles Osei Asibey, President of Africa and Ghana Arm Wrestling. Ms. Christie Ashley of the Chess and Scrabble Federations as well as Alhaji Shabaan Mohammed Secretary General of Ghana Cycling Federation.
The GOC President later interacted with the media and assured that he will unite the front of Ghana Sports.
He said the GOC welcomes support from all corporate entities.
Meanwhile, the GOC Board is planning to attend a church service to thank the Lord for a successful election on Sunday at the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at Tema Community 1.
