The newly appointed Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, held a meeting with staff at the NSA head office in Accra on Friday, March 14, 2025.
The meeting, marking the beginning of his tenure and provided an opportunity for Mr Ankrah to familiarize himself with the staff.
Mr Ankrah, appointed by President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday, March 13, 2025, will lead the NSA in fulfilling its mandate. He replaces Seth Panwum Boyoyo, who served as Director General since October 2021.

One of the NSA’s primary objectives is to promote and develop both amateur and professional sports in Ghana, encouraging mass participation.
The authority is also tasked with organizing and financially supporting the participation of Ghanaian athletes at the district, regional, national, and international levels.
Additionally, the NSA is responsible for securing insurance coverage for all athletes and officials chosen to represent Ghana, both within the country and abroad, to address any risks related to sports.
Also, it provides sports instructors to any person, team or organization who or which in the opinion of the National Authority, reasonably needs such instructors.
