SIGA’s 2025 State Ownership Report, published on August 28, 2026, assesses the financial and operational performance of state-owned enterprises and other entities in which the state holds an interest.
Ghana Gas Posts Major Profit Increase
The strong financial performance places Ghana Gas among the state-owned entities that recorded notable improvements during the period under review.
The company’s net profit rose from about GH₵118 million in 2024 to GH₵246.25 million in 2025, reflecting a substantial improvement in its ability to generate returns from its operations.
The increase comes as Ghana Gas continues to play a central role in the country’s midstream gas industry, providing critical infrastructure for the processing, transportation and marketing of natural gas and related products.
Revenue Hits GH₵6.87 Billion
Ghana Gas also recorded significant revenue of GH₵6,874.76 million in 2025, equivalent to nearly GH₵6.9 billion.
The revenue figure highlights the scale of the company’s operations and its importance within Ghana’s energy value chain.
The company gathers, processes, transports and markets natural gas while producing products including lean gas, condensate, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and isopentanes.
It also supplies processed gas to the Volta River Authority (VRA) for electricity generation, making its operations particularly important to Ghana’s power sector.
Asset Base Exceeds GH₵17 Billion
Beyond its profit and revenue figures, Ghana Gas maintained a substantial asset base of GH₵17,115.18 million in 2025, representing approximately GH₵17.12 billion.
The size of the asset base reflects the strategic importance of the company’s infrastructure to Ghana’s energy sector.
Among its major facilities is the gas-processing plant at Atuabo in the Western Region, while the company’s headquarters are located in Accra.
Boost for State-Owned Enterprise Reforms
The improved financial results come at a time when SIGA is intensifying efforts to improve the performance, governance and efficiency of state-owned enterprises.
SIGA’s mandate includes monitoring and supervising specified state entities while promoting efficient management, improved governance and profitability.
The authority’s broader reform agenda seeks to optimise the use of state assets, strengthen financial performance and ensure that state-owned enterprises contribute more effectively to Ghana’s economic development.
Against this backdrop, Ghana Gas’ 2025 performance provides a positive indication of what stronger financial management and efficient utilisation of state-owned assets can deliver.
Improved profitability among state-owned enterprises could also help reduce pressure on public finances while ensuring that assets belonging to the state generate greater value for the country.
A Strategic Energy Player
Ghana Gas remains a critical component of Ghana’s energy infrastructure, linking natural gas production and processing with major users, particularly the electricity generation sector.
Its operations and financial performance therefore have implications beyond its balance sheet, as reliable gas processing and supply are important to electricity generation and wider industrial activity.
The company’s 2025 figures, GH₵246.25 million in net profit, GH₵6,874.76 million in revenue and GH₵17,115.18 million in total assets, point to a year of strong financial momentum.
The results also reinforce Ghana Gas’ position as one of the country’s significant state-owned enterprises and highlight the potential for improved performance across Ghana’s state enterprise sector.
