When Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) was introduced to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, he was advised to remain humble and obedient in his role as the running mate to the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has advised Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh to carry himself in a way that ensures Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will have no reason to regret selecting him as his running mate for the 2024 general election.

“Don’t let Dr Bawumia regret selecting you as his running mate. Don’t ever let him regret that. Be humble and submissive to him. Do only what he teaches you to do,” he advised.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, while showing support for his grandson, cautioned Dr. Opoku Prempeh against reinforcing the perception of arrogance.
He thanked the NPP for the honour bestowed upon his grandson, in choosing him as the running mate.
The revered chief entreated Dr. Bawumia to mentor Dr. Opoku Prempeh and to notify him (Otumfuo) if his grandson ever requires correction.
“Train him and when he goes wrong, tell me and I will advise him,” he added.
